Progress Report: 2/27/2016 STILL Working on Audio

Well, I'm still chiseling away at making the second portion of the radio drama, and am working on my portfolio as my WordPress assignment (and subsequent project for Drupal) in advanced internet class. I have the voice track recorded, and discussed it with Kevin.   He said I did a very well done job with recording the audio and the tone of voice and tempo will further suit the piece when I get background music/sound.  There is one particular part that is subject to change in the audio, but it is minor and can be deleted from the piece entirely or kept in depending upon how it works with the background. It is a laugh I have in for when the monster is speaking/taunting the listener. Like I said, it is subject to either stay in or be removed. I asked Kevin about it and he said just play it by ear.Other than that, I am gonna just keep...

Status Report: 2/21/2016 A Month from Faculty Presentation

Today is 2/21/2016. It is one exact month from the faculty presentation for our CAPSTONE projects. Time for a status report on how I'm doing on my project. There is a lot of work I have out of the way, but there is also some major components I still need to get working on.After meeting with Prof. Kevin Williams, I can confidently say I have a properly formatted script for my radio drama. I also have a ready to print design for business cards to sell myself to the world. I wouldn't have been able to get the design done without the help of suggestions and advice from a bunch of people in the communications department. Thank you all! You are awesome. However, with all the success, I do have the major parts to finish up. I need to record and mix the second half of the radio drama, as well as make my online portfolio. I will devote an entire...

Depression, Anxiety, and my Radio Drama. . .Wait, What?

Speaking from personal experiences, Depression, anxiety, and the other multitudes of mental disorders are a hindrance on daily life and affect almost every aspect. These disorders vary in how they effect a person, but their damage is not something to take lightly. There has been a question floating around these disorders: are these emotional disorders, or cognitive? This has perplexed psychologists for years, but they also have been trying to come to a common conclusion. In 1991, Lauren B. Alloy of Temple University responded to a model presented by  David Barlow based around this question and offered her own suggestions as to what the answer could be, along with an opinion and thoughts on the Barlow Model and her research. Both Alloy and Barlow drew conclusions as towards Anxiety and Depression being similar and in most cases, even linked together by cognitive responses/influences. They also agreed that emotions and some outward forces are needed to trigger these and other similar...

Communications Books and Proposal Meeting

While meeting with Prof. Williams for a discussion about my proposal on February 1st, 2016, he suggested me three books to add into the list of sources for the Radio drama. These three books will be aimed towards a better understanding and more holistic look into sound design and communicating through sound. The books are: Sight, Sound, Motion: Applied Media Aesthetics by Herbert Zettl, The Music Producer’s Survival Guide by Brian M. Jackson, and Audio in Media by Stanley R. Alten. Kevin suggested me these books to help with giving an insight into more complex and more wholesome knowledge into what is what when it comes to creating content using sound. For example, Prof. Williams showed me a chart in one of the books that showed what frequencies to set, what distance to be, and other sorts of information to make various sound effects and voice effects. I will be reading these books extensively to gain...
