Heaven’s Pit, January 18th: Metal, friends, and a Proposal

On January 18th, I attended a metal concert at a location known as Heaven's Pit in Winchester, VA. My twin, Josh, is the drummer for a band called The Crownless, a reference to a quote in the popular TV series, Game of Thrones. This show was one for the ages because of the line-up of local bands in attendance, along with another big reason.Prior to this show, the guitarist, Cody, planned on proposing to his girlfriend, Rachel, and asked, Josh, the singer Tyler, and I to be a part of this monumental step in his life. I took the chance and said hell yes. I had never witnessed anyone proposing in person before and also wanted to support one of my close friends.During their set, a particular song they play, Wolf Pack, was up next on the set. This song particularly speaks about the love and wholeness of being together with friends and family that love and care for you...

The Contemporary Arts Museum: A Playground for a lover of Abstract Art

Whenever my family visits Washington D.C., we always visit the normal spots: Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, Air and Space Museum, and so on. I have always been curious about going the to Contemporary Arts Museum, but I would be the only one who would want to go. So, I did something about that. While on a trip to D.C. for a history class, we had time to kill after our initial visit to the Nation Archives, we just had to make it back to the Train Station before a certain time, or else we would be S.O.L. So, I decided to go to the place I longed to be. I Google Map'ed how to walk to the museum from the N.A. (it wasn't that far out of the way from the building). As Soon as I entered the West wing of the complex, I was in awe. There was a lot of art, pottery exhibits, vases, portraits, and much more stuff...

Career Fair: Interest, Intrigue…and nothing for me

Ah the career fair. A time to look at and explore your options for possible jobs, internships, or just to talk to experts in the field about what to do to succeed, get ahead, or even just to prepare yourself for your future.I however, I am on the end of the pole where I already have a job where I am using the knowledge in my field to succeed. I got hired at WHAG and had actually worked a shift the day of the career fair. I showed up late in the afternoon, around 2ish, after working the noon show. I was there exploring and seeing who was there and what there was to offer.Unfortunately, it wasn't really much to look at in terms of communications. Re-examining the sheet of which companies, schools, and organizations where in attendance and what they were looking for, there wasn't much in the way of communications and media. I noticed two or three, but...

Cultural Event Attendance #1: The Division II National Championship Football Game (Marching Band)

This season, The Shepherd University Rams football team fought their way to the NCAA Division II National Championship game against Northwest Missouri State University. The game was played in Kansas City, Kansas (Yes, it’s real. It’s a half hour or so outside of the other KC.) While the football team got to fly over, the Ram Band, cheerleaders, and fans had to drive it by bus. The buses for the band and cheer team were funded by an athletic department fundraiser, called “Band on the Run” (the fan bus was a separate fund). This trip is an all told 18 hour drive from Shepherd to KCK, including restroom stops, refueling the buses, driver changes, and food stops. Shepherd University Athletics school logo. Well, considering we had to be on campus by 4:30 in the morning on December 18th, most of the band and cheerleaders tried to get some much needed...
